This announcement contains important information about the upcoming 2021 Longitudinal Systems Analysis (LSA) data submission process. The Homelessness Data Exchange (HDX) 2.0 will open for LSA uploads on Monday, December 6, 2021. Thank you for your patience as timelines have changed. These changes are a result of changes in HUD’s internal process and not the team of technical assistance providers supporting vendors or communities as they submit their LSA files.

The 2021 LSA data submission process will begin with a Preliminary Upload Phase. During this time, communities are encouraged to make at least one upload attempt. Communities will be able to view errors for their upload in the HDX 2.0 during the Preliminary Upload Phase; however, communities are not expected to begin data cleaning at this time.

The Preliminary Upload Phase will enable communities to:

• Acclimate to the updated HDX 2.0 interface
• Ensure the proper staff have permissions in the HDX 2.0
• Allow for communities to receive support from their vendors or LSA support staff via the AAQ in the event there are errors preventing uploads

Anticipated 2021 LSA Submission Cycle Schedule

New Resources

New resources, prepared by technical assistance providers, have been released to support Continuums of Care (CoCs) in this process including:

• Preparing for the LSA: Guidance on Common Data Quality Issues – This new resource helps communities understand, prevent, and address common data quality issues.
   
• Introductory Guide to Submitting LSA Data for the AHAR – This updated resource provides background information and guidance on the LSA and the use of this LSA data for the Annual Homeless Assessment Report (AHAR) to Congress.

As a reminder, all community resources and guidance related to the LSA are announced through the HUD Exchange mailing list and are available on the LSA Tools and Guidance page.
